Celebrities Who Have Discussed Their Abortions
The news these days are all about pro choice, abortions and what exactly constitutes women’s rights. The discussion has taken over the country and plenty of women’s rights are at risk. But it’s not just regular people who have to deal with these choices.
These celebrities also had to make difficult decisions and they bravely opened up about them.
Abortion is a hot button issue, something most of us feel strongly about…one way or the other.
We’ve compiled a list of famous celebrities that have previously admitted to having a “shmashmortion”.
The subject of abortion is a very touchy one. A person that is pro-choice may argue that we shouldn’t be able to tell a woman what she can/can’t do with her own body.
A person that is pro-life might state that killing your neighbor is against the law, but you are legally able to kill your unborn child.
We aren’t going to go into our personal opinions here because it’s such an emotional issue, but present you with famous people that made the difficult decision to have an abortion.
Sharon Osbourne
Reality star and “X Factor” UK judge Sharon Osbourne previously shared her experience with having an abortion.
Sharon, who is married to rocker Ozzy Osbourne, said she suffered three miscarriages after having an abortion at the age of 17 due because of damage to her cervix.
The 59-year-old mother of three said, “Everybody has something in the closet, and I reckon the best policy is always to be honest, then it can’t come back to haunt you.”
Sharon said for her personally it was “the worst thing she ever did”.
Chelsea Handler
Late night talk show host and comedienne Chelsea Handler has been open about falling pregnant at the age of 16.
Chelsea said she was “delusional” for wanting to keep the baby originally, but that her parents talked her out of it. Her parents told her she’d be “throwing [her] entire life away.”
Handler said she has “no regrets” and said, “You should do whatever you want with your body and you shouldn’t let anyone tell you what to do.”
Sherri Shepherd
Sherri Shepherd, a co-host on “The View” admits having multiple abortions. Shepherd stated, “I’m speaking as a girl who had a lot of abortions and I swear to God…I would have put my child in a lot of situations that wouldn’t have been good because I didn’t have the mental capacity to deal with having a child.”

No wonder this poor woman has had drug issues!
Sinead O’Connor
“Nothing Compares to You” singer Sinead O’Connor had an abortion in the 90s. She said of the decision, “I think people don’t necessarily understand, because they haven’t had the experience, that to decide to terminate a pregnancy is probably the most difficult decision a woman would have to make”
The singer adds,”I didn’t have a sense of guilt about the abortion. If I had had the child, I wouldn’t have been in any state to be the mother that child would have deserved. It wouldn’t have worked that way. As far as I’m concerned, that child’s spirit is gone and perhaps some day it will return.”
Lil’ Kim
Rapper Lil’ Kim had abortion at the age of 18, after getting pregnant by the late rapper Notorious B.I.G.. Biggie, whose wife Faith Evans found him in bed with Lil’ Kim, urged her to have an abortion and she did.

Nicks said she was set on her career but said of the boyfriends, “Eventually their hearts couldn’t take it, they couldn’t understand quite enough, how deeply embedded in this I was. And so it eventually hurt them too much and they had to leave, or face devastation on their own.”
Nicks admits, “To give up four babies is to give up a lot that would be here now. So that bothers me, a lot, and really breaks my heart. But they’re gone, so…”
No matter where you stand on this issue, we can all agree babies are pretty amazing.
